Oh those codes above? Don't mind them. It's just mere numbers and codes from previous Diancie giveaways (not that I use them, though). Don't bother entering them. Ahem, as I were saying...
November 21, 2014.
The anticipated date of the upcoming remake of one of the greatest Pokemon games ever made; Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire featuring Groudon and Kyogre, respectively. However, what makes me think of them? Weeeeellll... I could say that I am somehow excited... but the thing is, its just X&Y set in the Hoenn region, albeit with a revamped story line and a very nice attention to detail.
However, something tells me that ORAS (that's how people call it and its a Tagalog term for time so its deemed appropriate for me XD) is going to be a very fun game nonetheless. Why? Because there are so many things that makes it distinct from its original release. But what are those changes anyways? Let's have a little rundown on some of the possible changes.
1. An additional roster of Mega Evolutions - simply put, a Trainer's dream come true. If you think your Pokemon is not getting some love from X&Y, then you may consider getting either Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire. Trainers can't really get enough of doing a lot of things regarding Mega Stones (I am one of them, of course). However, the only problem with this is that most of the Pokemon with featured Mega Evolutions are not that good at competitive battles to begin with. Nevertheless, I am very excited to see Mega Pidgeot in action, and I already saw Mega Glalie's potential. Also, Mega Swampert is the new Mega Venusaur.
2. Fly my friend! FLY!!! - and I mean literally. With a new "hover" mechanic, you can now travel above the beautiful island of Hoenn. What's more? You can also catch certain Pokemon with this particular method. You know what this means? *cough cough* Zekrom *cough cough*.
3. Pokemon Contests has gone Super - the Pokemon Contests have made a comeback. But this time, it became Super! There are many changes that was incorporated in these Contests such as Contest costumes for Brendan and May, the utilization of Mega Evolutions during contests, as well as a Contest Pikachu that you can play dress up with; giving it unique moves depending on the costume she wears (yes, the Pikachu is female).
4. Revamped designs for most NPCs - I must say that the art style of Ken Sugimori keeps on evolving into new forms of excellent design and colorful patterns. From the graceful wink of the young female Tourist to the robust demeanor of the Black Belt, the art style of the VS Sprites are pretty impressive and no doubt that ORAS will also get the same treatment whilst making it fitting to the Generation III remakes. There are certain designs that has changed dramatically from their original incarnations however. An example of the latter is Tabitha. His original design depicts him as a menacing Trainer with a sinister look on his face, but the ORAS remake gave him a "disgustingly" rotund figure; changing the character's aesthetic and attitude significantly. Nevertheless, there are some characters whose new designs really improved their flavor and personality such as Steven and Watson.
5. Secret Bases are better than ever - the Secret Bases is a wonderful addition to the RPG franchise that allows players to create unique kinds of secret camps through trees, big rocks, among other forms of terrain. You can use a wide variety of decorations (dolls, furniture, and even mats) to lighten up the mood of your Secret Base. These are only made possible, however, when any of your Pokemon has access to Secret Power; a Technical Machine that you can use to reveal paths through small vines and peculiar indents on craggy walls. To be honest, it can be very gimmicky (other than it can be overwritten on someone else's RSE game carts) and it has little to no impact in the overall experience in playing the game. However, Nintendo decides to bring back the feature to the ORAS remakes anyway and it became better than ever! Introducing; the Super Secret Bases! What lies in those bases? Well, you'll see. Hehehehe.
6. Feebas will retain its Contest-specific evolution aspects - Yes, this Pokemon will have its evolution line becomes Contest-specific once again; evolving into a Milotic with a max Beauty rating. Well, its not really a noteworthy feature to begin with, but its worth the mention nevertheless.
And that sums about some of them, I guess. There's really a lot more things in store for us Pokemon enthusiasts out there, so be sure to check out the full game once it is released. Also, if you're lucky enough to get a special code from Nintendo containing a demo version of ORAS, then you'll be able to see the many possible changes that you may encounter in the full game.
Be in the lookout for the coming remakes and we'll see on what kind of reactions we may encounter in the future. Stay tuned and fight on until then. Good day to all! :)
